Gypsum as a building material has gained immense trust since its first recorded use 9,000 years ago in Ancient Egypt. It is believed that ancient Egyptians used this fluid construction material over their straw and bamboo housings for better insulation against the unforgiving climate of the Sahara. However, today gypsum construction has found a welcoming niche as a fluxing agent, volume filler, heat shield, moisture-wicking, and sound-absorbing material. Since gypsum is often prepared as sludge prior to application, it is quite moldable and doesn’t face the same limitations when the construction of statement homes and offices is concerned.
